About Me

I was born in 1949 in New Jersey, and drawing and art have been part of my life ever since I can remember, with horses a close second. My father taught me to ride and to have a love for the Nature that surrounds us. My earliest memories are of my Father’s love of Nature. His first love was fishing, both freshwater and surf. Many days were spent following Dad into the “wilderness” of New Jersey’s trout streams and along her beautiful beaches.

Even back then I can remember my dad and his fishing buds talking about global warning.  I went to bed one night crying that the sea levels would rise and Dad reassuring me that this would not happen in my lifetime. How the truth has escalated.

I joined the Girl Scouts with hopes of spending more time in the wild. Thankfully our troop did just that. We even had survival training from an Air Force Major one summer.  I went to college and received a BA in Fine Arts, then spent several years working in advertising and retail.

I am still looking for the way to live on this planet in a gentle way. Later in life, I found The Tracker School and felt I’d hit the lottery. The greatest gifts of these teachings is that they give you the confidence that you will survive in any condition, and survive well. These teachings need to be given to all who want them. They need to be lived in this world. There is a better way than walking around with your nose in a “smartphone”. My art has given me a way to bring a whimsical look at the animals that share this blessed planet. My greatest hope is that my art guides you to love this planet and be moved to help her survive.

Thank you, Karen Pfluger
